How’s That Working For You?

NO, DON”T” I screamed

“Mom, what are you doing?” My son responded.

“I thought you were pulling out in front of that truck!”

“Of course, I wouldn’t do that. You really need to calm down.”

I don’t know about you, but not everything I’m doing is working for me, or for that matter for those I love.This was not the first time I lost my cool while sitting in the passenger seat while my 17 year old was driving.

Sometimes I repeatedly do things that don’t work for me and those I care and love.

Some days the feedback comes to me, like it did yesterday; loud and clear. Other days, I seem to have an amazing ability to absorb the pain, feedback and chaos; red lights flashing all around advising me things aren’t working and despite reality I continue on my merry, seemingly unconscious way acting as if everything is just fine and dandy.

I think it’s called denial. Maybe painful comfort. You know, you get so used to things NOT working that it becomes your normal and so like the frog in the boiling water you never respond, jump and I guess eventually die emotionally, spirtually, financially and mentally.

True we aren’t in control of everything that is not working in our lives, and in the lives of those we care and love. But what about the things we are in control of? ARE THEY WORKING?

What feedback are you getting in your life, relationships, financially, emotionally, from your employer, employees, partners? How’s your health? Your spirit? Soul? Mind?

If I was really honest and asked myself, “How’s that working for you Pam, in every area of my life; what would the answer be?

Truth is alot of what I’ve done – hasn’t worked. And I’ve found that the sooner I’m honest about what’s not working the sooner I can be the person I want to be…

The hardest person for me to be honest with, is myself. Of course; how about you?

Most days I just push forward, keep on going despite the feedback all around me that is screaming for me to stop, reflect and change.
