Voicethreads: Taking community and collaboration in blogging and education to the next level
What Do You Want?
Here’s a new tool Lynette Sorenson over at Northwest University shared with me yesterday. It’s called voicethreads and it’s a tool for capturing and holding a group conversation online. Click on the photo to zoom and then scroll with your mouse to move around the photo, click to move back out of the photo.
VoiceThread
With VoiceThread, group conversations are collected and shared in one place from anywhere in the world. All with no software to install.
“A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways – using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
Users can doodle while commenting, use multiple identities, and pick which comments are shown through moderation. VoiceThreads can even be embedded to show and receive comments on other websites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs to play as archival movies.”
Now, take a few minutes.
Before you begin click on the small photo of me over to the right of the photo and you will hear the recording I made.
Then click on the eagle on the other side and you will see a typed comment and a doodle.
Now, it’s your turn! Come on- it’s easy!
1. click on the box in left corner sign in or register. It will only take a few lines of typing and you have an avatar- you can use a symbol you don’t have to use a photo.
2. Click on comment. Type, use your webcam and video or record an audio recording and answer the question; What Do You Want- right now in your life; what matters most? ( also tell us what you think of voicethreads!)
3. Doodle if you’d like.
4.Save.
As I continue to learn about how to better engage conversation online and take learning and connecting to the next level as I join the team at Northwest University in the MBA, Business undergraduate and LEAP program you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be sharing my lessons with you!
For now – join me and let’s talk about what you want -and practice voicethreads a new way to take online conversations and engagement to the next level!
It’s time to get engaging- on voicethreads.
I’m listening. What Do You Want?
